Mariana Pestana (1997) works and lives in Lisbon, Portugal.

 

Working through a vast spectrum of media, her work often begins with the gathering of abandoned objects. Although this quest originates from a rationalised intention, the decision to collect them is the result of an impulsive attraction. These items find their way into her body of work wether as a vehicle of exploring the possibilities of their material limit but also as extensions of human condition. Throughout her creative process, there is a constant questioning of the barriers between the various artistic languages. She actively searches for the shattering of such limits, seeking and creating tensions between them.
